A Car Show That Shuts Down a Town...

Well, it closes portions of the two main streets in the heart of town.  The show cars stretched one block in each direction from the main intersection in the center of Leesburg.  I came home with 90 pictures and didn't even take one of each car there.  This was the 27th Annual Leesburg Classic Car Show and Cruise-In.  It was sponsored by the Northern Virginia Rods and Classic Car Club www.novarodsnclassics.org and Leesburg Small Business Association.  A small admission donation went to CS Monroe Auto Body and Graphic Arts Department students.  My wife, Suzanne, made the trek through the show with me.  You'll see her posing with her favorite rides.

Rat rods making a good showing.

Suzanne showing her great taste in cars.  Her reputation as a rock star guitar player has followed us to the show.  She was stopped in the street to ask about her past band.  HAHAHA  If you look closely, she's wearing one of her hand made dresses in cartoon hearse print. Posing with a bronze and white 1955 Chevy Nomad and 1956 Cadillac.

GTOs are out in force. 1965-67 and 1968-69 goats. Kind of funny how there are coupe and convertible versions of each generation.

Impressive amount of trucks in attendance. 1954-72 Chevy pick-ups.  1932-79 Ford pick-ups.  The rare bird in the 1960s Willys truck.My favorites are the 54 Chevy and the 2 53 Ford trucks.

 

 

Some race cars made it out. First time I've seen a 1960s sprint car.  1974 Plymouth Duster nastalgia drag racer. 1939 Chevy Gasser.  A Shelby car club came out.  I think there were 10-15 Shelby Cobras lined up.  Whether they are originals is the question.  A super-cool Shelby Daytona Coupe and mid 60s Corvette Trans Am series race car.

My biased favorites.  A 1958 Plymouth Fury, Christine replica.  I love the book and movie.  Some day this will be part of my car themed leg tattoo.  1976 Pontiac Trans Am.  Kind of sad that this was the only 2nd generation Firebird there.  I got a cool pic of the bird lurking in the trees.

Public service vehicles.  A 1920s-30s fire truck.  1953 Ford Panel Wagon police car. A cool Army Jeep at the Support Our Troops booth.

Muscle cars, hot rods and classic originals.

Some extra-cool photos.  Someone made this awesome sign holder out of old engine parts.  There was a signed guitar in the truck of a hot rod.  It was the same color as the car.  A couple pictures of neat flame jobs.  I got a picture of a Ford Fairlane retractable hardtop through the hood ornament.
